Orange
Oversized monometal debut from UPDN
The debut release from Andrew Bergen's brand UPDN, Orange is an oversized 6061 aluminum monometal yo-yo named after the fruit it matches in size. At 78 mm in diameter and 68 mm wide, it's about 20 mm bigger than a typical full-size yo-yo in both directions.
Andrew, who placed second in 1A at the World YoYo Contest 2017 in Reykjavík and hosts the Scales Collective podcast, came up with the concept; the technical design is by Jameson Larkins of Throw Spiral. At 80 grams, it weighs only about 15 grams more than most full-size yo-yos, and a recess inside each half keeps the string from snagging on the large faces. It takes a C-size bearing and 19mm pads. Players got to try it at the 2024 World YoYo Contest, ahead of its September 2024 release.
Each one comes in a mesh bag with an Orange sticker. On Spinkult in three colorways: Raw, Orange and Black.
